Hurricane Beryl Impacting Major Cruise Lines to Change Itineraries 

Cruise lines are changing routes and schedules to keep passengers safe. Many ships in the area are being rerouted or changing their plans. This is affecting lots of ships from different cruise lines, showing how Hurricane Beryl is impacting the cruise industry. Passengers on Caribbean cruises during this time should expect big changes to their trips as cruise lines try to avoid the storm. 

Icon of the Seas  

• Original Route: From Port Miami to Eastern Caribbean on June 29. 

• New Route: Western Caribbean 

• Skipped Ports: Phillipsburg; St. Maarten and Charlotte Amalie; St. Thomas 

• Added Ports: Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico 

• Maintaining: The ship will start sailing again on July 5. It will stop at Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas for a day before coming back to Miami on July 6. 

Wonder of the Seas 

• Departure: Port Canaveral, Florida on June 30.  

• Skipped Ports: Roatan, Honduras; Costa Maya 

• New Route: The ship will visit Perfect Day at Coco Cay on July 1, have a day at sea, then go to Cozumel on July 3. On July 4, there will be another day at sea, followed by Nassau on July 5, and another sea day on July 6 before returning to Port Canaveral.  

Harmony of the Seas 

• Departure: Galveston, Texas on June 30 

• Skipped Port: Roatan 

• Schedule Changes: Ship will visit Costa Maya on July 2 and Cozumel on July 3. The cruise will last 7 nights, with a sea day on July 4. 

Royal Caribbean’s Response to Hurrican Beryl 

Royal Caribbean said of the change, “As we’re monitoring the inclement weather around our intended path and are expecting high waves and strong winds, we’re modified our itinerary to provide you with the most enjoyable sailing… While it’s not the originally planned itinerary, we know you’ll have a memorable time.” 

Royal Caribbean International said, in a statement to passengers “We’re terribly sorry for the last-minute change caused by the weather – your safety is our top priority. Please know, being onboard is one of the safest places because we are faster and can move out of the way of any inclement weather.” 

Carnival Cruise Line Changes Itineraries Due to Hurricane Beryl 

Most Carnival ships will not alter routes due to being out of the storm’s path. Only Carnival Liberty and Carnival Horizon making adjustments, reversing port call order. 

Carnival Liberty  

• Departure: New Orleans, June 30 

• Revised schedule: Visits Cozumel on July 3, Belize City on July 4 and Roatan July 5 

Carnival Horizon 

• Skipped Port: Grand Cayman 

• Schedule Changes: Extra day at sea before arriving in Ocho Rios earlier

• Departed: Galveston, June 29 

• Continuing to: Freeport, Half Moon Cay, Nassau before returning on July 7. 

Carnival Magic 

• Departed: Miami, June 29 

• Continuing to: Phillipsburg, San Juan, Puerto Plata/Amber Cove, Dominican Republic, after the storm is over.  

Carnival Jubilee  

• Upcoming stops: Costa Maya on July 2 and Roatan on July 3 

• Return: Galveston, July 6 

Carnival Cruise Line’s Response to Hurrican Beryl 

Carnival Cruise Line Brand Ambassador John Heald’s statement “The Fleet Operations Center, the ship’s Captains and the Beards all work together on this. They will never make any itinerary changes days in advance. That’s because we want to try and give guests the cruise they booked so they track the path of the storm and wait as long as possible, safely, of course, before making any changes.”

• Original Route: From Port Canaveral to Southern Caribbean (June 30 departure) 

• New Route: Eastern Caribbean 

• Canceled Ports: Falmouth, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman and Cozumel 

• New Destinations: San Juan; Puerto Rico on July 2. Tortola; BVI on July 3. Puerto Plata; Dominican Republic on July 4 before heading back to Florida. 

Norwegian Breakaway  

• Departure: Port Miami, June 30 

• Original Eastern Caribbean ports canceled 

• Canceled Ports: Roatan, Harvest Caye in Belize, Costa Maya, Cozumel 

• New Destinations: Puerto Plata on July 2, St. Thomas on July 3, Tortola on July 4, and a day at Norwegian Cruise Line’s private island, Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas on July 6. 

Celebrity Cruises’ Changes Itineraries Due to Hurricane Beryl 

Celebrity Beyond 

• Departure: Port Everglades, June 29 for an 8-night trip 

• Original Itinerary Order: Bonaire (July 2), Curacao and Aruba 

• Revised Itinerary Order: Aruba, Curacao and Bonaire 

• Reason for Change: Hurricane Beryl was close to Bonaire on July 2, so itinerary order was reversed to travel behind the storm. 

Disney Cruise Line’s Changes Itineraries Due to Hurricane Beryl 

Disney Fantasy  

• Departure: Port Canaveral, June 29 

• Original Itinerary: plan to visit Cozumel, George Town on July 2, Falmouth; Jamaica on July 4 and Castaway Cay in Bahamas on July 5 before storm. 

• Revised Itinerary: Cozumel (maintained), George Town (maintained), Sea Day (replacing Falmouth) and Castaway Cay in Bahamas (maintained) 

• Canceled Port Call: Falmouth, Jamaica
