Royal Caribbean ship classes vary significantly in size, with the largest classes dwarfing the smaller ones. Icon Class ships are about three times larger than Vision Class ships in terms of Size (Gross Tonnage). The Icon Class ships, like Icon of the Seas, have a gross tonnage of about 250,800 GT, while Vision Class ships are around 78,000 GT.

This massive difference in size allows Icon Class ships to offer more amenities, larger public spaces, and a greater variety of cabin options. They can also accommodate significantly more passengers – over 6,000 compared to the Vision Class capacity of around 2,400 guests.

The Icon class ship Icon of the Seas is the biggest cruise ship in the world. Icon of the Seas started sailing in January 2024 from Miami. Royal Caribbean Icon of the Seas is 6% bigger than Royal Caribbean Oasis Class ships. Icon of the Seas is the first ship in the fleet to be powered by LNG, making it an eco-friendly cruise ship.  

Icon of the Seas has many dining options, including specialty restaurants and free choices. There are over 20 dining venues, like Empire Supper Club and Izumi in the Park. For entertainment, there are AquaTheater shows in the AquaDome, ice skating shows in Absolute Zero, and Royal Theater productions.

Icon of the Seas has 28 stateroom options, including new family friendly suites like the Ultimate Family Townhouse with a slide and private cinema and inside staterooms.   

The ships have advanced technology for sustainability, fast internet, and a mobile app for guests. There are also sports and activities like the FlowRider surf simulator, rock climbing walls, and a mini-golf course. Wellness options include the Vitality Spa, a modern fitness center, and a jogging track. 

The Icon of the ship is divided into 8 neighborhoods, including 3 neighborhoods like Central Park, Royal Promenade and Suite Neighborhood are common with Oasis Class ships, along with 5 new ones that include AquaDome, Chill Island, Surfside, Thrill Island, The Hideaway.

The Royal Caribbean Oasis class ships were the largest in the world until the Icon of the Seas arrival. Oasis Class Ships sail to the Bahamas and Caribbean, with some ships going to the Mediterranean. 

Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas, Symphony of the Seas ships feature 7 neighborhoods, while Wonder of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas has 8 neighborhoods.

The 7 neighborhoods like Royal Promenade, BoardwalkCentral Park, Pools & Sports Zone, Entertainment Place, Youth Zone, Vitality Spa & Fitness are common on all Oasis Class ships, except The Suite Neighborhood is available only on Wonder of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas.  

These ships have three main pool areas, a kids splash zone, surfing simulators, a basketball court, a mini-golf course, and a zip line. Inside the ships, there are many lounges, bars, restaurants, shops, casinos, spas, and showrooms. Each ship also has an indoor ice-skating rink.

Accommodations offer different stateroom categories like interior, ocean view, balcony, and suites. Some unique options include Virtual Balcony rooms and Loft Suites. The guests can enjoy Suite Perks like butler service and free drinks and dining.

Quantum Class ships also have traditional Royal Caribbean amenities like pools, rock climbing walls, Outdoor Movie Screen, Adults-only Solarium pool area. and Broadway-style shows.

But they do not have ice skating rinks or water parks like other Royal Caribbean ships. Quantum Ultra-class ships have Sky Pad virtual reality trampolines, and the indoor pool has a retractable roof for sunny days.

There are multiple pools and hot tubs in the main pool area for relaxation, an adults-only Solarium, and a kids’ water park called Splashaway Bay. They do not have some of the over-the-top attractions like zip lines.

The Voyager Class ships are about 11% smaller than the Freedom Class ships. These ships were the first to have indoor shopping and dining on the Royal Promenade, rock-climbing walls and ice-skating rinks. 

The specific activities available vary by ship, so it’s best to check to see what each ship offers. For example, Navigator of the Seas has a larger pool deck with a bigger waterslide called The Blaster.

The other ships have different waterslides. Only three ships (Navigator of the Seas, Mariner of the Seas, and Voyager of the Seas) have laser tag.
