Carnival ChiBang Menu 2025 Price, Reviews and Tips

One thing I’ve always appreciated about Carnival Cruise Line is how they keep adding new dining ideas that make each ship feel special. From steakhouses to Italian trattorias, every class of ship has a venue that sets it apart and gives cruisers something new to try.

When Carnival launched its new Excel Class ships, they introduced a restaurant unlike anything we had seen before called ChiBang, a bold fusion of Chinese and Mexican flavors.

As someone who enjoys trying different venues onboard, I had already experienced many of Carnival’s popular spots. But when this unique concept appeared, Zoe and I knew we had to give it a try.

Many other cruisers were also curious about how the mix of dumplings and tacos would work together, making it one of the most talked-about venues onboard.

If you’re wondering what the experience is really like and what’s on the Carnival ChiBang Menu 2025, read on as I share our personal review along with what other cruisers had to say.

What is ChiBang on Carnival Cruises?

ChiBang is a unique restaurant on select Carnival Cruise Ships that offers both Chinese and Mexican food. It first opened in 2021 on the Mardi Gras and is now available on Carnival Celebration and Carnival Jubilee.

At Chibang, you can choose from either Chinese dishes, Mexican dishes, or foods that mix both cuisines. This gives diners a chance to try new flavor combinations they might not find elsewhere.

At first, Chibang was meant to help when the Carnival main dining room was too full. It even offered the same menu as the main dining room, alongside its special dishes. But now, Chibang only serves its own special menu, focusing on its unique blend of cuisines.

This arrangement creates a diverse and convenient dining experience for guests, offering a range of cuisines from Asian fusion to Italian, seafood, and barbecue, all within easy reach on a single deck.

When does a Carnival ChiBang Open?

Carnival Cruise Chibang restaurant opens for lunch on sea days from about noon to 2:30 PM. For dinner, it’s open every night from around 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM.

Anyone can eat at Chibang, but booking ahead for dinner is smart, especially when it’s busy. If you have “Your Time Dining,” you can eat there any time between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM. But if you have set dining times, you can only go after 7:45 PM.

Is a Reservation Required at Carnival Chibang?

ChiBang does not require reservations for lunch since it is open on a first-come, first-served basis. Dinner works differently and reservations are recommended because this venue is one of the most popular on Excel Class ships.

Cruisers can book a table through the Carnival Hub App or by visiting the restaurant once onboard. Walk-ins are sometimes accepted at dinner, but securing a reservation makes the experience much smoother.

ChiBang Carnival Review

On our recent Carnival Cruise, Zoye and I decided to try ChiBang, a specialty restaurant that mixes Chinese and Mexican flavors. I’ll be honest, I was curious how these two cuisines could work together.

For us, dinner at ChiBang started with spring rolls and wonton soup. Both were light yet full of flavor and set the tone for the meal. Zoye chose the honey sesame chicken, while I went with the pork belly fried rice. The dishes arrived hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked.

We also enjoyed some drinks with our meal including a refreshing ChiBang Margarita for Zoe and a Mexican Mule for me, which paired surprisingly well with the dishes.

To finish, we shared a slice of tres leches cake, which was the sweetest way to end the evening. The atmosphere felt casual and relaxed, making it easy for us as a couple to enjoy our time together without the formality of the main dining room.

From talking to other cruisers, I noticed that favorites vary widely. Many rave about the Kung Pao Chicken, tacos, and fried rice, and several mentioned enjoying the bubble teas and specialty cocktails offered at ChiBang. Some people feel the fusion menu is limited and not for everyone, especially if they expect traditional Chinese or Mexican dishes, but most agree it is worth trying for something different.

For us, the only downside was that the menu felt a bit limited, and interestingly, a lot of other cruisers mentioned the same thing. Even though the dishes we tried were flavorful, we wished there were more options to choose from on repeat visits.

As for the pricing, we felt it was fair since lunch is included, and at dinner the first visit does not cost anything extra. After that, there is just a small charge if you want to go back again. It still feels reasonable, but the limited menu made us less likely to return multiple times.

Overall, both of us found ChiBang fun and flavorful, and the majority of cruisers we spoke with or read about had positive experiences too.
